Recognition Notes
The MAD-5S is a 75-ton sniper, a 3051 rework of the 2612 MAD-1R that trades reach at the same range band for sharper hitting power. Where the MAD-1R carries a PPC and a Medium Laser in each arm, the MAD-5S mounts an ER PPC and a Medium Pulse Laser in the Left Arm and again in the Right Arm, and a Gauss Rifle replaces the AC/5 in the Right Torso, with CASE still lining that torso. A 300 XL fusion engine takes the place of the standard 300 fusion engine, and 16 double heat sinks replace the single heat sinks, though standard armor now covers the frame in place of the ferro-fibrous plating. Cruising and top speeds hold at 43 and 65 km/h. It remains a command 'Mech with a low, hard-to-target silhouette and hyper-extending arm actuators, built by Bowie Industries at its Carlisle plant.
