The COM-7A rebuilds the Commando as a close-in striker, where the COM-1A of 2463 served as a scout. In place of the single Large Laser in the right arm, this variant carries a Medium Laser in the left arm and twin SRM 4 racks split between the right arm and center torso, with CASE lining the right torsor. Endo steel structure and standard armor replace the original's standard structure and primitive plating, and the engine now pushes the machine to 65 km/h cruising and 97 km/h at top speed, well up from the COM-1A's 54 and 86. The type keeps the low, hard-to-target silhouette of the original chassis. It is most often produced as a field refit, though Coventry Metal Works also builds it at Coventry.
