The GRF-5M is a 55-ton missile boat that fights at long range, a lighter rework of the 60-ton GRF-1A sniper introduced in 2465, itself listed obsolete not long after. Where the GRF-1A carried a Primitive Prototype PPC in the right arm, this variant mounts a Light Gauss Rifle there, and the LRM 5 in the right torso grows to an LRM 10, with a Small Laser added in the left torso. A 275 XL fusion engine replaces the GRF-1A's 290 fusion powerplant, lifting cruising speed from 43 to 54 km/h and top speed from 65 to 86 km/h, and jump range extends from 90 to 150 metres. Standard armor replaces the primitive plating of the original, CASE lines the right torso, and 13 double heat sinks replace the earlier 11 single units. Both arms carry reinforced battle fists, the right arm weapon is jettisonable, and the frame is built rugged and field-serviceable. Earthwerks Incorporated builds the type at its Keystone plant.
