Recognition Notes
The SDR-8X reworks the Spider as a 30-ton striker fighting in close, where the 2650 SDR-5V was built as a scout. In place of the pair of Medium Lasers in the center torso it carries twin Medium Pulse Lasers in the same location, and endo steel internal structure replaces the standard structure of the original. A 240 XL fusion engine swaps in for the standard 240 fusion unit, holding cruising speed at 86 km/h and top speed at 130, while a partial wing in each torso lifts the jump range from 240 to 270 metres. The heat sinks are now double rather than single, and the type remains an easily-serviced design. Nimakachi Fusion Products Ltd. builds it at Lapida II, with production also at Terra.
