The Grendel (Mongrel) A is a 45-ton medium that fights at long range, cruising at 76 km/h and topping out near 119 with a 210-metre jump capability. Where the Prime configuration closes to mid range with an ER large laser and a Streak SRM 6, this configuration fields a pair of LRM 15 racks, one in each torso, for its principal firepower. In the right arm it carries a Medium Pulse Laser and an ER Small Laser in place of the Prime's ER large laser and matching small laser, and the Left Arm and Head ER Medium Lasers of the Prime configuration are absent. It runs on 10 double heat sinks rather than 12. The frame keeps the same rugged, field-serviceable construction, and is built by Arcadia BattleMech Plant CM-T15 along with other manufacturing sites.
