Dervish DV-8D2 "Lightbringer"

The DV-8D2 "Lightbringer" is a 55-ton striker that fights close in, a 3071 field refit of the 2520-vintage DV-1S. Where the original carried an SRM 2 in each arm and an LRM 10 in each torso, this variant strips out the missile racks entirely and fits a Snub-Nose PPC and an ER Medium Laser in each arm, with a set of Spikes mounted in the head. A lighter 275 XL fusion engine replaces the standard 265 fusion plant, lifting cruising speed from 43 to 54 km/h and top speed from 65 to 86, while jump range grows from 90 to 240 metres. Ferro-fibrous armor replaces the primitive plating of the DV-1S, and 11 double heat sinks stand in for the original's 10 single sinks. The arms carry hyper-extending actuators, and the chassis remains an easily-serviced design, built under field refit programs at various sites rather than a single dedicated line.
