The STN-3KA is a 40-ton scout, a 2830 field refit of the 2651 Sentinel STN-1S, cruising at 65 km/h and topping out at 97. Where the STN-1S carried an AC/2 in the left arm, this configuration mounts a Large Laser there, and the right torso's SRM 4 gives way to an SRM 2 alongside the Small Laser. Heat-sink count rises from 12 to 13 single sinks to cope with the laser's output. Enhanced communications gear carries over from the base model, and the type is turned out as a field refit at various sites rather than a dedicated production line.
