Fafnir FNR-5X

The Fafnir FNR-5X is a 100-ton sniper that trades the base configuration's close-support role for a pure long-range profile. Where the FNR-5 mounts a Heavy Gauss Rifle in each torso alongside a Medium Pulse Laser in the head, this configuration carries an Improved Heavy Gauss Rifle in the left torso and right torso, with no head-mounted weapon at all. The pair of ER medium lasers in the arms carries over, as does the Guardian ECM suite in the center torso and the CASE lining in both torsos. It still lumbers along at 32 km/h cruising and 54 km/h flat out, and the minimal, weapon-pod arms without hands remain its most obvious visual mark. Defiance Industries builds it at Hesperus II, with field refits accounting for other examples in service.
