The Black Hawk (Nova) U is a 50-ton striker that fights close-in, cruising at 54 km/h and topping out near 86 km/h with a 150-meter jump capability. Where the Prime configuration mounts a single ER Medium Laser in each arm, this configuration trades both for a mixed melee-and-support loadout: a Micro Pulse Laser and a Sword in the left arm, a Heavy Medium Laser and a Spot Welder in the right arm, and a Machine Gun in each torso. Heat-sink count falls from 18 double to 14 Clan double under the reworked arsenal. It carries over the low, hard-to-target silhouette and combat computer of the base configuration, and is built by Tokasha MechWorks at its Tokasha plant, among other sites.
