The Firefly FFL-5A is a 30-ton striker built around a 180 XL fusion engine, heavier than the FFL-3A's 150 XL, which lifts cruising speed from 54 to 65 km/h and top speed from 86 to 97 km/h; a partial wing fitted in each torso stretches its jump range from 120 to 210 metres. Endo steel structure replaces the FFL-3A's standard framework, while standard armor now covers the frame where the original wore ferro-fibrous plating. Where the FFL-3A mixed three small lasers, a TAG, three medium lasers, and an LRM 5 across its arms and torsos, the FFL-5A trims the loadout to three ER medium lasers in the torsos, an LRM 5 in the right torso, and an Anti-Missile System in the left arm. CASE shifts from the right torso to the left torso, and the minimal, weapon-pod arms without hands carry over from the original. Ceres Metals Industries builds the type at its Lockton factory.
