The FFL-4A is a 30-ton striker, a field-refit rework of the 2679 FFL-3A that trades battlefield sophistication for simplicity. The left arm's Small Laser stands alone where the FFL-3A also carried a TAG, and the Right Torso loses its CASE installation. Single heat sinks replace the original's double heat sinks, and standard armor replaces the ferro-fibrous plating of the FFL-3A, while a standard 150 fusion engine takes the place of the earlier 150 XL fusion engine without changing the 54 km/h cruising speed or 86 km/h top speed. The pair of Medium Lasers in the side torsos, the Medium Laser and Small Laser in the Center Torso, the Small Laser in the Left Torso, and the LRM 5 in the Right Torso carry over from the FFL-3A, and the type still shows its minimal, weapon-pod arms without hands. Various depots turn out the conversion under field-refit arrangements rather than a single manufacturer.
