Viper VP-8

The Viper VP-8 rebuilds the 70-ton brawler around a 350 Inner Sphere XL fusion engine, lifting cruising speed from the VP-1's 43 km/h to 54 km/h and top speed from 65 to 86. Where the VP-1 mounted a Binary Laser (Blazer) Cannon in each arm, the VP-8 carries an ER Large Laser in the left arm and another in the right, and its three Medium Pulse Lasers in the left torso, right torso, and rear-facing center torso are replaced by ER Medium Lasers in the same positions. Inner Sphere light ferro-fibrous armor replaces the VP-1's standard plating, an Inner Sphere targeting computer sits in the left torso, and a Clan active probe is fitted in the head. The type retains its fixed searchlight, enhanced communications gear, and rugged, field-serviceable frame, and Kallon Industries builds it at its Bernardo works.
