Paladin PAL-2

The Paladin PAL-2 is a 60-ton skirmisher, a 3068 rebuild of the 3053 PAL-1 original. Where the PAL-1 carried seven machine guns in the left arm, this variant fields a Rotary AC/2 in the same arm, and a Medium X-Pulse Laser in the right arm replaces the earlier Large Pulse Laser. The left torso now houses a Streak SRM 6 and a Streak SRM 4 in place of the PAL-1's SRM 6 and paired Streak SRM 2 launchers, and CASE moves to the right torso as the Artemis IV fire-control system is dropped. A 360 XXL fusion engine and Triple-Strength Myomer push cruising speed from 54 to 65 km/h and top speed from 86 to 97, with a boosted cruising speed of 86 km/h under combat heat, while composite internal structure and light ferro-fibrous armor replace the PAL-1's endo steel frame and ferro-fibrous plating. Like its predecessor, it remains a maintenance-intensive design, built by Innovative Design Concepts on Solaris VII.
