Sabre SB-27b-EC

The Sabre SB-27b-EC is a 25-ton fighter flown as an interceptor, a field refit of the SB-26 dogfighter built on an XL engine rather than the original's fusion plant. Where the SB-26 mounted a Medium Laser in the nose and one in each wing, this refit strips the nose weapon entirely and doubles up, carrying two ER Medium Laser Prototype weapons in the right wing and two more in the left wing. Ferro-Aluminum armor replaces the SB-26's Primitive Fighter plate, and ten double heat sinks cool the type in place of the original's ten single heat sinks. It is assembled as a field refit rather than at a dedicated factory, with work carried out at various sites.
